Barkhausen Institut

At the Barkhausen Institut (BI), we focus on facilitating trustworthiness of networked electronic systems through cutting-edge research. Our interdisciplinary team works on secure and reliable hardware, software, and communications technologies, with applications ranging from critical infrastructure to healthcare and industry.

We carry out projects e.g. in the area of verifiable IT systems and collaborate with academic and industry partners to turn research into real-world solutions. Financed by the Saxon State Parliament, we are working to create a digital future that serves society and industry alike.

We also present RIOT, a free, open source operating system for a wide range of microcontrollers with a focus on low resource requirements and ease of use, continuously developed by a worldwide open source community and the TU Dresden. RIOT pursues the vision of an Internet of Things that is connected, secure, durable and privacy-friendly.
