The Vortex86EX3 is a highly integrated 32-bit x86-based dual-core system-on-chip (SoC) designed for modern embedded industrial applications. The SoC is based on its unique master-slave dual-core architecture, which allows two operating systems to run simultaneously. The main core is responsible for the main computing tasks, and the secondary core focuses on processing I/O operations, and separates the two through the built-in FIFO COM communication technology to ensure stability and hard real-time performance during multitasking. Each core has its own L1 and L2 caches, and the flexibility to allocate shared LPDDR4 memory to further improve processing efficiency and execution speed.
The Vortex86EX3 integrates a wide range of functional modules and interfaces to meet diverse embedded requirements. With built-in UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, GPIO, HD Audio, Ethernet, USB 2.0, LCD controllers, and traditional ISA and PCIe interfaces, it covers applications from traditional industrial devices to IoT devices. At the same time, the SoC has 160 programmable GPIO pins and is freely configurable through the CrossBar interface, allowing it to meet a variety of customisation needs and greatly simplify the hardware design process. Especially for space-constrained embedded applications, its 17x17mm FCBGA package, combined with a low-power design, makes it a cost-effective option.
The Vortex86EX3 supports a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, DOS, QNX, VxWorks, and other 32-bit real-time operating systems (RTOS). It supports up to 8GB of memory and supports multi-display output (up to 1920x1440) for multimedia processing needs. It has an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C and can handle harsh industrial environments. The Vortex86EX3 also has a built-in multi-timer and watchdog timer for additional reliability.
