Are you familiar with the advantages of a System-on-Module (SoM) and planning to produce your product in medium to high volumes? How much have you considered using a custom-designed single-board computer as a cost- and space-optimized solution for your application?
Helbling has developed a flexible embedded vision platform. The platform is based on an ARM processor and can be used as a reference design for the development of custom single-board computers (SBC).
The platform currently integrates a processor from the Sitara family (AM62x) with up to two camera inputs and an NPU (Neuromorphic Processor Unit). This processor was developed by Texas Instruments for a range of cost-sensitive applications, including driver and interior monitoring systems, innovative eMirror systems, robotics applications, as well as a broad spectrum of industrial applications such as factory and building automation, and other markets.
The processor offers an MIPI CSI-2 interface with 2 or 4 lanes for connecting up to 2 cameras. It has an image signal processor with a processing capacity of 315 MPixels/s and supports visualization on an RGB display. The entire platform can be flexibly adapted to specific customer requirements: within the family, various compatible processors are available, and RAM, storage (eMMC or SD-Card), interfaces, and additional components can be individually configured. Examples of additional components include a gyroscope sensor or wireless communication such as WLAN or Bluetooth. This would enable functions such as precise motion tracking and electronic and/or optical image stabilization (EIS/OIS) for the cameras.
The embedded Linux operating system can be built either on a Yocto or Buildroot basis. The platform and Linux OS are license-free. The SBC can be customized in terms of size and cost according to customer requirements. In the product, it can also be used without additional parts like a carrier board or similar.
Helbling is manufacturer independent. We can integrate any ARM processors on an SBC as per customer requirements. Among others, we have sources for ST, TI, Socionext, HAILO, Rockchip, Allwinner, and many more.
