PHYTEC provides a System on Module (SoM) based on the Texas Instruments Sitara AM64x processor, featuring multi-protocol support for Industrial Ethernet.
The TI AM64x integrates two PRU-ICSSG (Programmable Real-Time Unit and Industrial Communication Subsystem) subsystems, which can be loaded with TI communication firmware to implement the following Industrial Ethernet protocols:
- EtherCAT SubDevice
- PROFINET Device
- EtherNet/IP Adapter
Protocol stack execution run on an R5F core under FreeRTOS, while tasks with less stringent real-time constraints run on the Arm Cortex-A53 cores under Linux.
In addition to the SoM, PHYTEC offers the phyBOARD-Electra AM64x, a high-performance development platform for rapid prototyping of industrial automation solutions. It provides these interfaces:
- Up to 2x Gigabit Ethernet (CPSW3G), up to 4x Gigabit Ethernet (PRU-ICSSG)
- USB 2.0, USB 3.1, PCIe 2.0 (Host/Device mode)
- MMCSD, UART, CAN, and additional embedded interfaces
As a software partner, IBV provides engineering services for the phyBOARD-AM64x including:
- Integration of Industrial Ethernet protocols
- Real-time core to Linux adaptation
- Firmware update management for Industrial Ethernet devices
- Precision time synchronization solutions (e.g. EtherCAT Distributed Clocks (DC), gPTP)
- Conformance testing and certification support (EtherCAT)
- Full-cycle application development for Industrial Ethernet systems
